February 2025 Burn Challenge

Each month inside Burn Club we run a Burn Challenge: BC+ members pick a single word, and everyone is invited to interpret it in their own way, in any style, any level, any tool.

This time the word was “FURRY”

This challenge went hand in hand with our Open Studio guest session featuring Brandy Roels, who taught us all about burning furry textures. It was the perfect pairing for this month’s theme and gave everyone a chance to explore fur texture in a deeper way while learning from Brandy’s approach!

and the winner is…

Jen of @woodburnedwonders

There is so much to love about this piece. The furry texture in the darker patches is especially beautiful. It has so much richness and depth, and the way the layers were built makes the fur feel soft, full, and wonderfully dimensional.

And those eyes really pull you in. They feel soft, calm, and just a little bit soulful. This little cutie has such a gentle presence.

What makes this piece even more impressive is that it was burned on leather. That surface brings its own challenges, which makes the texture and detail stand out even more. Jen works on a wide variety of surfaces and creates all kinds of unique pieces, from book covers and sculptural puzzle art to earrings, door stoppers, and other one of a kind creations.

Be sure to check out Jen’s work and explore the range of creative things she’s making in The Club, on Instagram, and on Facebook.

To celebrate, Jen received all three Digital editions of

the Community Book of Templates.
